“Really really cool, by the way, that the fundraising is going so well. Also a bit of confirmation that people support your work ..” was a message that I received from a friend.
Indeed indescribably beautiful to experience your support so overwhelmingly! From our home front, both in Rio de Janeiro and in the Netherlands, we were supported: full of love, delicious brigadeiros and pastels ( out of reliable sources) were made, sold and purchased! Children who raised money by doing chores. By many supported by your prayers and donations we kept on receiving.
Within two months the we already received € 12.100,00!! We need to confess that we thought it would be impossible to bring in the money in two months. The opposite has been proven to us. We are surprised and grateful for your loving support and encouragement! Saulo even received a new and safe carseat: all the way from out of New York!
The cars we had in mind were, unfortunately, not in a suitable condition to buy. This is due to the fact that we will later receive extra substantial costs and may come to a standstill in the middle of nowhere. We cannot bear this financial and worrying risk. We feel desperate in this situation; the will to go to the tribe is there, the will from the tribe to receive us is there, the amount of money is there .. However, it seems impossible to find a suitable and safe car. In prayer we trustfully place our hopes and worries in the hands of our Lord.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
do not lean on your own understanding. Think of him in everything you do,
then he will pave the way for you.
[Proverbs 3: 5-6]
The doctor had instructed Lucas to take total physical rest for forty days. This is due to inflammation in a torn shoulder tendon. The team of the Oral Bible School was (partly) very happy with this.
Lucas himself was grateful and happy that he could be of use, instead of having to stay home. Through teaching and guiding the students, he had the opportunity to discover and learn more with them about the history of God’s people and to better understand our calling and responsibility, being God’s people.
Meanwhile, I, Christa, got my driver’s license: I passed both, my theory exam and my practical exam, at once! Since the car accident I was anxious when I got into a car, driving has helped me enormously in overcoming this fear.
It was great to receive a visit from the Netherlands. My aunt, uncle and two nieces were traveling through Brazil. They had decided to make a short visit to us. Funny to see how other ways and customs have become so naturally to me. Above all we enjoyed the pleasant and encouraging conversations. The lack of family around us suddenly became present. It was extra enjoyment to see the family play with Saulo.
Saulo is now wandering around on discovery inside and outside the house: he prefers sand, grass and leaves to his toys. And how proud he is that he can stand up independently at the table and eat his own fruit and vegetables! With a little help, he staggered a few steps. Proud parents here!
Do you pray with us for:
^ Patience and confidence in the process of purchasing the right new car.
^ Patience and trust in all follow-up questions and situations: when to the tribe, etc.
^ Despite the broken nights, we will stay full of patience and love are allowed to stay together.
And thank you with us for:
^ So many who are around us, just like us, believe that God is recognized. Here too in the Brazilian Amazon.
^ The successful and attractive promotions and donations for the purchase of a new car.
^ That Saulo is such a healthy boy, full of development and discovery.
^ The nice and encouraging family visit that we received.
